The Books of Pellinor Series by Alison Croggon, they are a series of four. They are definitely of the fantasy genre, and if you are a fan of Harry Potter, Eragon, and the like you will probably like this series.

are those the 800 page books that take five years to write?

No they are about 500 each and the author only took like 6 or 7 years to writes all 4.

Halo series is pretty descriptive. It really puts a new perspective on the Halo franchise

I mean, a perspective that lets you see the "God" from behind while he is on Mythic difficulty

I say any of the Dawin Awards books and books by Issac Asimov.

I would suggest the illiad and the Odyssey.

Personally I would suggest the Sword of Turth Series, starting the with "The Wizard's First Rule"

Most of Terry Goodkind and Terry Brooks books are good if you are into the fantasy thing.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

I liked it, its a translated Japanese book that is about a really weird girl who has the power to do anything she wants and recreate the world at whim. Good thing for us, she doesn't she can. Yeah its weird, but it's my kinda thing
